Since 1994 I have been collecting any information I can find on Weast born in New Jersey that I can tie into our collective family and any Weeast regardless of where they lived. Included in this collection are birth, marriage and death certificates I collected on a visit to the New Jersey State Archives in the early 2000’s. There are other birth, marriage, and death records, Census indexes and pages, newspaper articles, Social Security applications, WWI and WWII Registration Cards, and more; approximately 550 files in total. The only photos included are from the Ford Weeast family, and one picture given to me of Harry Weeast. It would be nice to have other families contribute pictures they can share of their ancestors.
All of the documents and images collected are stored within 30 Family Group files. To identify who your ancestors are back to Thomas and Mercy Weast, download the Weeast Family Group Hierarchy file and trace backward from your known relatives (parents, grandparents, great-grandparents). You can then identify which Family Group files to download.
If you are interested in what some of the historical documents look like, click on the following examples from the John & Sarah Weeast Family Group:
Birth Record – Marion Weeast 8/19/1898
Marriage Record – John Weast & Sarah Aaronson 4/11/1872
Death Certificate – Sarah Weeast 10/7/1915, Age 63
Cemetery Headstone – Sarah Weeast
Newspaper Obit Extract – Sarah Weeast
Census Index – John Weeast Family, 1900
Census Page – John Weeast Family, 1900, Lines 90-99
For the most part, my research is historical and only goes up to the 1940 Census. There are many other family groups since then that are not included in this collection. I can accommodate anyone who wants to build out information on their family groups and would like to share them on this site.
If you want to download any of this information you can go to the Research page and select the link for the Family Groups page. For each family group, you can download their information contained in a Zip (compressed) file. You will need a program to unzip the contents to your local drive. All files within the Zip file are in PDF format. If you haven’t done so already, you can download a free PDF reader application to view each item.
There are other research pages that provide information about Census records and useful genealogy links for New Jersey. And other research pages are planned.
